ProPlotFits

Sports analytics, en dos lenguas — from Kansas City

ProPlotFits is my personal project on data journalism, rooted in Kansas City, and demonstrative of my bilingual capabilities.

Two things I enjoy are communicating data and speaking Spanish, so why not combine them? I’m here to improve my Spanish through data communication, so not everything you see in Spanish will be “sin errores”, sin embargo, I shall try my best.

The blog highlights the fact that the Heartland does in fact have a large Spanish-speaking community, and as one of the capitals of the Heartland, Kansas City is therefore a cultural center for Spanish-speakers

The site moves between English and Spanish the way a bilingual conversation actually does — just spoken.

This blog is somewhat epistolary, with Salvador Pérez as the intended target. He is bilingual, proud of where he came from, proud of where he plays, and deeply tied to his geography.

Plot — every post ships with a real chart, model, or dataset. We show our work.

Cultura — the Latino community in KC is large, passionate, and largely ignored by mainstream sports media. This site is made for them and about them.

Código — Spanglish is the voice, not a barrier.
